Celebrate safely
Adults only
Crackers must be lit by adults. Keep children at a safe distance and under supervision at all times.
Open space
Burst crackers outdoors, away from houses, vehicles, dry leaves and anything that can catch fire.
Keep water ready
Keep a bucket of water and sand nearby. Put used crackers in water before you throw them away.
Cotton clothes
Wear cotton clothes and footwear. Avoid loose synthetic clothes near fire.
Never relight
If a cracker doesn't go off, wait, then soak it in water. Never go back to it or try to light it again.
Store safely
Keep crackers in a cool, dry place away from flames, heat and children until you use them.
